More and more women are opting for human hair extensions. Professional hair extensions is the best method. It is becoming easier and easier to find various types of hair extension accessories, such as human hair wigs, in online stores.

You have extended your hair and you want to know how to take care of it properly, how to keep it nice and long lasting and, above all, healthy and strong? You have certainly invested in this treatment and want to enjoy its beauty for as long as possible, so it is not worth destroying it with an unprofessional approach to care.

Of course, the durability of such a treatment depends on the method of hair extensions and the condition of the hair, but there are also some tips for care which are a great support for the appearance and condition of hair extensions. Here is a short guide that will help you take the best care of your hair extensions.

How to take care of your hair extensions – a care guide

 Accurate and suitable combing

Of course, every hair needs combing and there is nothing unusual about it. The problem starts if you use a narrow-gauge comb or brush to brush your extensions instead of combing them

To comb this type of hair it is worth using a special brush or comb, which were created mainly for extended hair: they are more delicate and, above all, fully safe for this type of strands. Brush your hair before you wash it. How to comb your hair?

Always start at the ends and gradually go higher and higher so that the strands don’t get tangled up, but if you do get tangled up in some areas, remember that the tangled areas must not be jerked off with the brush, but only separated gently with your fingers first and then combed.

For the night, a loose braid or tied hair

Hair extensions should be protected against any mechanical damage over their entire length. It is very badly damaged especially… when sleeping. This is because it rubs against the cushion material and we often just jerk it when we lie on it, so the best and important rule for extensions is to braid them into a loose braid or ponytail. This will greatly minimize the risk of damage to your hair: the hair folds will not be damaged.

Gently wipe it off after washing

We have already mentioned that any mechanical damage is a crime to the hair because it breaks or loosens the hair ties, i.e. the places where the hair is attached to our natural strands.

Such injuries include, among other things, intensive wiping of wet hair after bathing, as it is then softened by water and more susceptible to damage. The towel rubs against the stems and significantly weakens, jerking and destroying their condition. It is best if you press the hair gently into the towel just after bathing – excess water will soak into the fabric and you will avoid damage.

Nourish your hair with appropriate cosmetics

Hair extensions are more susceptible to damage – especially at the point of attachment, but with thin, delicate strands they can strain from the very base – that is where new, strong and healthy hair should grow. Always remember that you must not apply the conditioner to the place where the strands are attached, but only where they can damage in excess – that is, above all at the ends and along the stem. Moisturizing is also a key aspect of hair care – as the attached strands tend to dry out more strongly than our hair growing from the roots.

This is why nourishing extended hair is very important – remember to apply an appropriate conditioner to your hair during every wash. The ideal care for them will be the same as for medium and highly sensitive hair.

Use natural oils and oil your hair

Protecting hair from mechanical damage is not enough to take care of it properly over its entire length. Another important element of care is to protect hair from the adverse effects of external factors: high and low temperature, solar radiation, oxidative stress, toxins and air fumes. Hair absorbs not only nutrients but also pollutants. Not only does it deteriorate, but also the condition of the scalp. We should remember that hair, which has gained an unnatural load, may after some time weaken at its most important point, i.e. in the bulb.

It is worth to oil your hair regularly and apply small amounts of natural oils – not only after bathing but also during the day. Thanks to this you will protect them not only at the point of connection, but also at the ends. Oiling the hair also strengthens its bulbs and cleanses the scalp perfectly, restoring the skin’s natural pH and protecting it from other unpleasantness such as dandruff, excessive seborrhea or dryness of the scalp. Oil is an excellent alternative to products with alcohol, which are very inadvisable for hair extensions.
